Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Appropriateness

Continuing to provide reliable, high-quality public services and support our administration department is very important. Having smooth, attractive streets and sidewalks, timely waste removal services and beautiful, well-kept parks, pools and grounds make Prairie Village a sought-after community. These services come with costs. Reviewing contracts and assessing job responsibilities and staffing needs is essential to effective budgeting.

Furthermore, moderating property taxes without sacrificing these great amenities is necessary to ensure that residents of all economic backgrounds and life stages are able to enjoy these benefits without any undue stress or burden. Any excess revenue as well as large-budget projects should be thoughtfully considered for the greater good of the community and the overall financial health of the city.

Embracing Progress with Thoughtful Consideration

Johnson County has many cities that provide comparable amenities, safe neighborhoods and strong schools. People have solid opportunities for housing in the neighboring cities of Prairie Village. When residents chose to settle and invest in Prairie Village, they do so because they see a community they find attractive, unique and perceive it as their top, ideal choice.

When considering new commercial and residential projects, it is important to draw on Prairie Village's long-established appeal and not lose sight of its most appreciated assets. Additionally, it is necessary to recognize that the lifestyles and spatial needs of today's residents has changed since Prairie Village was first founded. New building projects must be thoughtfully considered and only then approved when they enrich Prairie Village by preserving its unique, treasured characteristics while integrating our residents’ present-day lifestyle and cultural needs.

Furthermore, large-scale project proposals should go before the community to allow residents to voice their thoughts and feelings. These such projects could have significant impacts on adjacent neighborhoods and it is important that those affected have involvement and influence.
